This portfolio is made up of three parts. Part one is a systematic literature review in which the
theoretical, conceptual and empirical literature relating to male and female experiences of chronic pain is reviewed. Part two is an empirical paper which uses IPA methodology to explore the
influence of pain site on the female experience of chronic pain. Part three comprises the appendices
