Abstract

Description: Included in this spreadsheet are details of the vessels with figureheads that were registered in London for foreign trade in the year 1817. Details include the vessel’s name, its master/owner, where it was built, physical attributes, propulsion method and figurehead subject. Source: The information was extrapolated from the register of merchant ships, held by the National Archives (reference TNA BT 107/30). Note: This research was undertaken as part of a collaborative doctoral award funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, The National Maritime Museum, London and the University of Hull.
