The Faber New Poets

Abstract

The Faber New Poets - Four young-blood poets read from their first published works, winners in top poetry publisher Faber's drive to find and promote the most vibrant new poetic talent. Fiona Benson is an Anglo-Scottish writer currently living in Exeter. She completed an M Litt in Creative Writing at St. Andrews. Received an Eric Gregory award in 2006. Toby Martinez de las Rivas was born in 1978. He won an Eric Gregory award in 2005 and the Andrew Waterhouse award from New Writing North in 2008. Heather Phillipson is currently Artist in Residence at the London College of Fashion. Her poems have appeared in anthologies and have been commissioned by the BFI. Jack Underwood born in Norwich in 1984, is studying towards a PhD in Creative Writing at Goldsmiths College. He is a librettist, musician and co-edits the anthology series Stop Sharpening Your Knives. He won an Eric Gregory Award in 2007. Introduced by Faber editor and acclaimed poet Matthew Hollis, whose collection Ground Water (2004) was shortlisted for the Whitbread Prize for Poetry, the Guardian First Book Award and the Forward Prize for Best First Collection.
