Dr Karen Harrison

Biography Karen Harrison is a Reader in Law and currently the Head of the Law School. She has worked in the Law School at the University of Hull since 2009 and prior to that worked at the University of the West of England, Coventry University and the University of Wales - Aberystwyth.

Over the last 20 years she has established a national and international profile in sentencing and penal policy. She has written extensively on the legal and ethical implications of risk reduction and management strategies with high risk sex offenders and has recently completed an empirical project looking at why British South Asian women fail to report sexual abuse.

Dr Harrison is currently involved in evaluating the implementation of Body Worn Video in Humberside Police.

Karen has been teaching for over 20 years and has taught a range of undergraduate Criminal Law and Criminal Justice related modules. In 2019, she was the winner of the Hull University Union Overall Outstanding Achievement Award for her teaching. She is committed to high quality teaching and an excellent student experience.
