| Biography | John was a history teacher for 25 years before joining the University as a senior lecturer in education. He has been Director of the CLEO collaborative partnership since 1997, and has acted as Programme Director of Secondary PGCE and Graduate Research Director for Education. John's first research, at the University of Leeds, involved the Russian experience during the First World War, and he is currently working on two volumes on the Pickering soldiers of the First World War. He has been researching the history of education for over 20 years, publishing 30 journal articles, four authored books and three part-authored volumes. |
