Research Interests

My research interests lie in the field of environmental economic geography, in particularly, in multi-stakeholder decision making processes and contested land uses. My more recent work focuses on sustainability and urban governance in particular in respect to green building drawing on work in urban sustainability, policy mobility and sustainability transitions. In the past, I have worked on a number of international and interdisciplinary projects hosted by German, Canadian, US and Luxembourgish institutions including land use and resource conflicts, spatial planning controversies, urban sustainability, and the greening of the industry.

Biography I joined the University of Hull as Lecturer in Human Geography in 2014. Prior to moving to the UK, I worked as postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning at the University of Luxembourg (2009-2014) working primarily on green building as urban climate change strategy and as a vising scholar at Clark University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Spring 2003) conducting research on environmental justice organizations and the green economy in the larger Boston region. I received my degree in Geography from the of Cologne, Germany and a PhD in Geography from Simon Fraser University, Canada. My work has been published primarily in geographic journals including Economic Geography, The Annals of the Association of American Geographers, Urban Studies and the Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers.
Teaching and Learning I am teaching primarily on the BA geography programmes offered by the School of Environmental Sciences focused on urban and economic geography. I am also involved in a number of field studies including a second year field trip to Berlin and a third year option to Hong Kong.
