Research Interests

For the past fifteen Mark has been investigating the relationship between exercise and free radical biochemistry. He has worked with key industrial partners such as Vitacress Salads seeking to gain a better understanding of the role of natural compounds in our diets and their effect on our physiological and biochemical function.

Biography Dr Mark Fogarty joined the University of Hull as a lecturer of exercise physiology in November 2012.

Prior to joining the University of Hull, he held an academic position at Edinburgh Napier University.

His PhD thesis investigated different modes of exercise and the use of natural and synthetic antioxidants supplements on free radical generation and their effects on macromolecules such as DNA, lipid and proteins.

Dr Fogarty is currently the Faculty Lead for Collaborative Provision and is responsible for the strategic oversight and operational management of Collaborative Partnerships (including international)within the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Teaching and Learning Mark designed, wrote and managed the BSc in Sport and Exercise Nutrition for 3 years prior to progressing into his Faculty role. He still enjoys contributing to this program and helps to support students in his role as an Academic Support Tutor
