Professor Mark Hayter

Biography Mark Hayter is Professor of Nursing and Research and Associate Dean (Research) in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Hull, United Kingdom. He qualified as a nurse in 1987 and holds a Bachelors Degree in the Social Dimensions of Health and a Masters Degree in Clinical Nursing. His PhD, a sociological analysis of family planning consultations, was awarded in 2004 from the University of Sheffield.

Mark is a Visiting Professor at the University of Genoa, Italy and has extensive academic contacts in Asia, Australia, the Middle East and the United States. Mark is an Editor of the Journal of Advanced Nursing and serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of School Nursing and the Journal of Nursing Interventions. He is a Fellow of the European Academy of Nursing Scholars and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

Mark has been closely involved in sexual and reproductive health research and practice for over 20 years and has published extensively – with over 100 papers in peer review journals. He has also presented over 70 papers at national and international conferences. Mark’s research includes national and international collaborations including EU and UK Department of Health projects on a variety of sexual and reproductive health topics.
