Biography | Originally from Rome, I completed my BA in Interpreting and Translation (2014) at the University of Trieste (Italy), focusing on Italian, English, Russian and Portuguese. After graduating, I moved to the UK and for three years I worked as a lector of Italian at the University of Hull, where I also completed my MA in TESOL with Distinction (2017). I then obtained my PhD (2018-2022) from the University of Leeds, carrying out a qualitative longitudinal case study on the Year Abroad experience from the personal perspective of UK language undergraduates in Italy. In September 2022 I also joined the University of Hull again, in the role of MA TESOL Lecturer. |
Research Interests | My research interests include (but are not limited to): the Year Abroad experience, the student experience, students' affective challenges, teaching and learning methods, language teaching and learning, the concepts of identity and culture. I am also very interested in the researcher-participant relationship and the co-creation of reality in qualitative research projects. |
Teaching and Learning | I currently teach in the MA TESOL modules, including Contemporary Issues in Language Teaching, Dissertation Research Skills, Approaches to Language Teaching, and Advanced Professional Issues in ELT. I supervise MA TESOL and UG students in their dissertations. |
