Dr Moses Onyoin

Biography Dr Moses Onyoin is Lecturer and Researcher. He has more than 12 years of University level teaching experience - having started as a Teaching Assistant at 24 years of age at Makerere University Business School in Uganda. He has since engaged in teaching and research work in United Kingdom and Germany.

In 2018, while writing his PhD at the University of Hull, Dr Onyoin was the first doctoral candidate to be seconded on an exchange programme to lecture at the Münster School of Business (MSB) at FH Münster University of Applied Sciences in Germany. At MSB he taught international human resource management on a Bachelor of Business Administration programme. He also taught corporate management, using business management simulation programs, on the European Business Programme and Central and Latin America (CALA) Programme. Still at Münster, he facilitated the establishment of cooperation agreement between the FH Münster University of Applied Sciences and Makerere University for teaching and learning exchange. He spent 18 months at MSB before returning to Hull to complete his Doctorate in 2020.

Dr Onyoin engages in both professional and academic research. He works on research based assessments for the Aura Innovation Centre and contributes on funded research projects in the Faculty of Business, Law and Politics at the University of Hull. At Aura he contributes on policy and commercialization assessments in support of innovations for low carbon in the UK. He has contributed as co-investigator on projects funded by Research England’s Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) along with Professor Chris Bovis and Dr Antonio Malfense Fierro.

His academic research is at the intersection of organization theory and public policy, including but not limited to the governance of inter-organizational collaborations, cross-sectorial and multi-actor partnerships, management of temporary organizations and project based organizing in diverse sectors and development contexts.

His very recent work (co-authored with Chris Bovis) has been published by SAGE and Emerald publishers in the Journals of Administration and Society and International Journal of public sector management, respectively. He has also published work in other peer reviewed outlets including International Journal of Management and Applied Research and Corporate Governance and Organizational Behavior review. His co-authored book chapter on the governance of cross sector collaborations in emergencies is under peer review.

In addition to his academic work, Dr Onyoin has professional experience in projects and programmes management. He has particularly managed and advised nonprofits organisations on people and results based management in the context of development projects and programmes. He was recently invited to serve as part of the Human Resources committee of the Board of Trustees at Uganda Biodiversity Fund.
