Dr Samuel Laushugno Shem

Biography Dr Samuel Laushugno Shem is currently a Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography at the School of Paramedic, Perioperative and Advanced Practice, Faculty of Health Sciences University of Hull.

Prior to this he was a Lecturer and the Head, Department of Medical Radiography Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Nigeria. He has previously worked in the Hospital as Chief Radiographer and the Head, Radiography Services.

He graduated from the University of Maiduguri with a bachelor’s degree in radiography in 2009 and has Masters and PhD in Medical Imaging with a specialist interest in diagnostic ultrasound, MRI, patient care, and safety.

He is a registered diagnostic radiographer with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) United Kingdom (UK) and a member of the Society of Radiographers (SoR) UK.

Dr Shem is passionate about teaching, research and community service and engagement. He has taught students for many years at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He loves to teach in a variety of ways that stir up interest and engagement among his students. He has attended and presented in several seminars, workshops, and conferences in his specialty area. To date, he is an author and co-author of at least 10 published research papers. He has been involved in global health radiology initiative programmes in low resource settings through the provision of high-quality ultrasound services, education, training, and mentorship of health care professionals.

He is married with three children and enjoys reading history and biography, writing, travelling, and seeing new places.
