Nurse Practitioners a solution to health care crisis
Abstract
Presented information regarding advanced practice roles and delivery of healthcare to Australians in rural and remote areas. The article considers a proposal that the health care crisis in Australia might be solved by the ability of nurse practitioners (NPs) to offer expert nursing care that is both cost effective and able to reach those most in need. The solution was proposed at the 3rd International Congress on innovations in Nursing held in Perth, Western Australia. Amanda Sherratt of Curtin University of Technology says the advanced quality care offered by NPs is delivered in a multidisciplinary framework of practice, complementing other health care providers.
