Abstract

Description: A 3d model of the figurehead from the brigantine Helen Sutton (1868). The vessel was commissioned by George Sutton of County Cork and built in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia. The figurehead was acquired by a member of the Newport Harbour Commissioners in Newport, South Wales and was subsequently donated to Newport Museum, where it is currently on display. Source: This 3d model was created by Erica McCarthy using a Faro Arm and Faro Laser Line Probe and Geomagic software. It was then converted into a 3d pdf. Note: This research was undertaken as part of a collaborative doctoral award funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, The National Maritime Museum, London and the University of Hull. This specific aspect of the research was undertaken with the generous assistance of the staff of Newport Museum, Newport, South Wales.
