This report presents an overview of the website entitled
‘Beresford’s Lost Villages’, accessible at www.dmv.hull.ac.uk. The website is built around a database of deserted settlements and associated evidence. The rationale behind the website is to provide both the general public, as well as active researchers, with an online source of information about specific deserted settlements. This paper provides an overview of the journey taken from concept to reality and concludes by reviewing why such a resource is still valid and a useful tool for further research.
