Abstract

Three zinc carboxylate complexes, [(C6F5Zn)4Zn(Ar1)6]·1.5toluene, [(C6F5Zn)4Zn(Ar2)6]·2toluene, and [(Ar3)6Zn4(μ4-O)]·MeCN (where Ar1 = 2-chlorobenzoic acid (1), Ar2 = 2,4,6-trimethylbenzoic acid (2), and Ar3 = 3-dimethylaminobenzoic acid (3)), have been prepared from the reaction of (C6F5)2Zn·toluene and the corresponding functionalized benzoic acid. Complexes 1-3 were structurally characterized and screened for hydrogen absorption (uptake <0.3 wt %).
