Biography About Zachary North (Zach)

Zach is currently the Director of Apprenticeships and a Senior Lecturer in Advanced Clinical Practice at the University of Hull. He is an accomplished academic and healthcare practitioner: specialising in advanced clinical practice, education, and leadership within the healthcare sector. With an academic background that includes a PG Cert in Academic Practice (Distinction, 2021), MSc in Advanced Practice (Distinction, 2018), BSc (Hons) in Health Professional Studies (First Class, 2014), and a Diploma in Operating Department Practice (2008) from the University of Hull. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Professional Expertise

Since January 2019, Zach has held several key positions at the University of Hull, including Post Graduate (Taught) Lead, Education Lead for the Faculty of Health Sciences, Academic Misconduct Officer, Head of School for Paramedic Peri-Operative and Advanced Practice and now Director of Apprenticeships. His career prior to academia includes roles as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Senior Peri-Operative Practitioner, highlighting a comprehensive background in surgery, medicine and emergency care.

Leadership in Education

Zach has played a pivotal role in redefining curriculum development and delivery. He has successfully lead in the design and validation of multiple programmes within the Faculty of Health Sciences and is known for his abilities in curriculum design, authentic assessment and constructive alignment. Zach's innovative teaching methodologies, which leverage digital technologies and flexible learning approaches, have significantly enhanced student engagement and educational outcomes.
