Dr Nigel Young
Biography | The common theme to Nigel's research has been the application of a variety of spectroscopic techniques to the study of a wide range of inorganic compounds, particularly the use of matrix isolation techniques to stabilise unstable and highly reactive species. He graduated with a BSc in Chemistry from Imperial College, London, and then moved to Southampton University to carry out a PhD with Dr J Steven Ogden. Nigel stayed at Southampton as a research fellow with Prof Ian Beattie and, after a temporary lectureship at Southampton, took up an SERC/EPSRC Advanced Fellowship at the University of Manchester before joinging the University of Hull in 1993. |
