Dr Calvin Machaya
Biography | Calvin is an experienced Chartered Accountant who have worked both in the private sector and the development sector as an Accounting & Finance Business Executive. He is also a hands on Chartered Accountant who holds the United Kingdom Accounting Practice License. Calvin is also a CIMA Global Mentor. Calvin has worked extensively in the implementation of Accounting Systems, Management Control Systems, Internal Control Systems, Training of Accountants and Performance Measurement Systems. He is also experienced in the preparation of Financial Statements and Management Accounts. Before joining the University of Hull, Calvin has worked with accounting firms, CSR and Sustainability Consultancy Firms both in the UK and in Africa. Calvin has also consulted for many NGOs in Africa and facilitated major Public-Private Partnerships. He currently sits on the Board of Trustees for Climate Change Action NGO. Calvin is particularly interested in Practice and evidence based teaching and advocates for Authentic Business Learning and Practice based methods of teaching. Calvin is also the Placement and Internship Lead for HUBS. |

Research Interests | Calvin's Research interests are in - sustainability, -Corporate Social Responsibility and Resource Allocation (Budgeting), - Environmental and Social Accounting, -PPPs and NGO-Business Partnerships - The Structuration and the Strong Structuration Theory and Management Accounting and is accepting PhD students in these areas. |
