Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to explore the potential dynamics of open co-specialization in science park ecosystems, being generated by a range of co-evolution opportunities among onsite SMEs and between them and other tenants as well as other stakeholders. It focuses on how operationalisation of the different social interactions leads to the accommodation of suitable mechanisms for diffusion of those practices associated with ICM among tenants of science parks, under the theoretical notion of the ecosystem. Distinct from the majority of empirical research on firm-specific, industry-specific or macroeconomic effects of science park service on tenant performance, this paper unveils important dynamics and synergies within the science park knowledge ecosystem, constituting mechanisms for diffusion of intellectual capital exploitation practices. It advances a conceptual model of determinants of co-evolution opportunities.
