Abstract

Preamble
Meaningful engagement of students in the thoughtful evaluation of teaching is difficult
Students were involved in framing questions and in commenting on the evaluation process
The data supply insights into students' views on being taught evaluation
Several students also commented on an improved ability to critically appraise their learning
This approach encouraged more proactive evaluation
Students are reflecting on the way they learn, as well as what they are taught
