Biography | Anna Hammond is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Medical Education at the Hull York Medical School, and a GP in York. She is Deputy Director MB BS Programme, Academic Lead Clinical Skills & Reasoning and Director of Communication Skills Teaching at the Hull York Medical School. Her interests are clinical reasoning, communication and equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). She has developed a pedagogical approach embedding a clinical reasoning curriculum in the HYMS MB BS course and maximising student learning from patient encounters. She has worked to make clinical reasoning explicit, with students and tutors sharing a common vocabulary, enabling the explicit teaching of clinical reasoning. She is a co-founder and Secretary of the National Clinical Reasoning in Medical Education Group (CReME) and a co-author of the UK Consensus Statement on the Content of Clinical Reasoning curricula in Undergraduate Medical Education. She provides academic leadership to the HYMS MB BS Communication Skills Curriculum and is responsible for the recruitment and development of Simulated Patients used across the HYMS programmes. She is a member of the UK Council of Clinical Communication. Anna is Co-Chair of the Hull York Medical School Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committee. She is passionate about promoting a safe an inclusive learning environment for all students. She has developed and delivered Micro (and macro) aggressions & Bystander Training to over 2000 delegates (including students, university based academics, professional services staff and clinicians across the large HYMS geographical region. |
