Abstract
Early detection of skin cancer can lead to improved health outcomes. The value of primary prevention is limited and cases of skin cancer are rising. There is therefore a need to consider secondary prevention through regular and thorough skin examination. Skin self-examination is a low-cost option and there are some interventions available to support this. However, existing interventions have limited utility as they are not theoretically based or tailored according to the individual. Our programme of work seeks to address this deficit. This paper reports the work accomplished so far and offers the resulting resources to dermatology nurses for use.
