Biography David Parker thinks that referring to himself in the third person is weird outside of the context of formal paper writing. It reminds him of a great sketch by Mitchell and Webb about Caesar. Am I Caesar?

I have been lecturing at the University of Hull, in the Department of Computer Science and Technology, since 2011. I love using software to solve problems.
Research Interests I am a member of the Dependable and Intelligent Systems research group in the Department of Computer Science and Technology.

As part of my research in to safety-critical systems I am a co-inventor of HiP-HOPS, a state-of-the-art model-based safety and dependability analysis and optimisation tool.

I am particularly interested in the use of meta-heuristic optimisation algorithms to improve characteristics of safety-critical systems.
Teaching and Learning I am currently responsible for the following modules:
2D Computer Graphics and Simulation (level 5)
Mobile Devices and their Applications (level 6)
Group Development Project (Level 7)

I am also the caretaker a bunch of extra-curricular activities such as game jams and programming competitions including the magnificent Three Thing Game (https://threethinggame.com) and a local site for the Global Game Jam.
