Biography Laura has been a Lecturer in Sport Coaching and Performance at the University of Hull since September 2023. Prior to joining the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, Laura has worked as a Lecturer in Sport Coaching at Manchester Metropolitan University (2016-2023) and Leeds Trinity University (2015-2016). During this time, Laura has also co-generated income through the delivery of externally funded projects with Active Partnerships, Sport England, Community Football Trusts, Local Councils and Ferens Education Trust.

Laura publishes research articles in the area of Sport Coaching and Community Sport Coaching and has edited and co-edited two textbooks:

Community sport coaching: policies and practice (2022).

Sports coaching in the community: developing knowledge and insight (2019).

Laura also has over 15 book chapters in sport coaching and qualitative research methods textbooks.

Before starting her lecturing and research career Laura completed her honours degree in Sport Coaching and PhD in the Sociology of Sport at the University of Hull in the Department of Sport, Health and Exercise Science. Alongside her academic work, Laura is also an experienced Community Sport Coach and Swimming Coach.
Research Interests Laura's research focuses on the socio-political, pedagogical, and emotional features of sport coaching, with a particular emphasis on community sport coaching contexts. Laura's research principally utilises qualitative research methods and interactionist theoretical frameworks to understand sport workers' experiences of the everyday social realties of their organisational role.
