Biography Tim read Chemistry at Oxford and undertook a DPhil in Materials Chemistry (Homochiral Coordination Polymers) under Professor Matt Rosseinsky.

He carried out postdoctoral work with Professor Peter Battle into anisotropic oxides and metal nitrides, discovering a facile route to filled β-manganese and η-carbide interstitial nitrides.

Before coming to Hull, Tim was Station Scientist (X-ray Diffraction) at the Synchroton Radiation Source, Daresbury.

He is currently engaged in structural analysis using single-crystal and powder diffraction for a huge range of different compounds: MOFs, coordination compounds, organometallics, pharmaceuticals, and mineral samples.

He is always interested in new projects involving collection and analysis of diffraction data.

PhD Topics Tim welcomes PhD applications in any aspect of structural science involving structure determination and structure-property relationships. eg MOFs, co-crystals, crystal engineering, metal oxides and nitrides.
