Miss Emma Palmer

Biography Emma's role is to enhance and support the transition and retention of Foundation Year students within the Faculty of Arts, Cultures and Education. She has a keen interest in Student identity and their sense of belonging, depending on how this is influenced depending on their academia, social and environmental circumstances.

Emma's background was initially in Theatre and Events where she was a stage manager for 13 years, working with the BBC, National Youth Music Theatre and the Northern Academy of Performing Arts (Hull). Following this, Emma went into Education which she worked with Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) as a Student Reviewer, was President of the Hull College Students' Union (2013 - 2014) and worked in collaboration with the National Union of Students on campaigns and focus groups to enhance the student experience.
Research Interests Retention and Transition, Widening Participation, Student Engagement, Student Experience, Inclusion, Sense of Belonging, Communities, Foundation Year.
