Biography Dr Michael Farrelly is a Senior Lecturer in English language with research expertise in critical discourse analysis. He has published on methods of CDA, intertextuality, discourse and democracy and critical policy discourse analysis.

He is currently working on discourses and the climate crisis.

Dr Farrelly gained his PhD, in critical discourse discourse analysis and local democracy, at Lancaster under the supervision of Professor Norman Fairclough, Professor Greg Myers and Professor Ruth Wodak.

He has applied a critical discourse analytic approach to numerous research projects at the University of Liverpool, the University of Birmingham, the Open University and at Lancaster University, as well as at Hull.
Research Interests critical discourse analysis; cultural political economy; critical policy analysis; interpretive policy analysis; discourse and the environment; sustainability, discourse and politics.
