Professor Hugh Scullion
Biography | Hugh is Emeritus Professor at Hull University Business School. He is Visiting Professor at the University of the West Indies and Research Visitor at Ecole Management Leonardo De Vinci (EMVL, Paris Business School). He previously held Faculty positions in Warwick, Newcastle and Nottingham Universities and was Professor of International Management in Strathclyde, Galway and Hull Universities. His current research interests include Talent Management in the context of AI adoption, managing STEM talents in high tech firms, Talent and human capital issues in SMEs and Family firms and inclusive leadership. He is known for his collaborations with top ranked international institutions such as the Indian Institute of Management, Queens University Belfast and Trinity College Dublin, and for his leadership role in various international research groups including his role as Director of the Future of Global Work and Leadership Institute in Hull University. He has published and co-edited nine books in the International HRM, Global Talent and Industrial Relations fields. He is a widely cited author (+15,000 citations on Google Scholar as at 2/4/25) and has published numerous research articles in top management journals such as the Academy of Management, Journal of World Business, Human Resource Management Journal and Human Resource Management Review. His work has attracted funding from academic, industry and government sources and he attracts top PhD students from around the globe. He is co-founder and co-chair of the EIASM Talent Management Workshop, the leading forum for Talent researchers and he serves on the editorial board of a number of leading US and European journals including Human Resource Management Review. He has extensive consultancy and executive education experience in Europe and Asia and more recently in the Caribbean where he runs workshops and masterclasses in Global Talent Management and Inclusive Leadership for corporate clients of the University of the West Indies. Hugh is a member of the Glasgow Celtic Football Club Supporters Trust and a season ticket holder of the club. |
