Grigorios Vasilopoulos

Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Biography Greg Vasilopoulos Joined the Energy and Environment Institute in 2017 as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant. His research interests are centred on understanding Earth surface processes and morphodynamics.

He gained a BSc in Geology from the University of Athens in 2011, and an MSc in GIS & RS for Environmental Modelling and Management from the universities of Twente and Southampton in 2013.

Greg went on to complete a PhD in Physical Geography at the University of Southampton. He focused on developing novel methods to quantify vegetative roughness, which is pertinent for the hydraulic modelling of surface water flows and for natural flood management applications.

His current work at the EEI is focused on the flood risk and resilience of the Mekong delta and how this may be altered in the future due to anthropogenic impacts on system function.
