Project Title The role of infrared thermal imaging in the assessment of chronic midportion Achilles tendinopathy
Project Description The project focused initially on building a valid and reliable method to assess skin temperature of the midportion of the Achilles tendon. Once solidified and the methods were peer reviewed and published in the journal Thermology International, symptomatic and asymptomatic tendinopathy patients were recruited. There were assessed clinically and asked to complete a series of exercises-based tasks. Skin temperature was captured and recorded. Participants then had the option of undergoing a 12-week heavy slow resistance rehabilitation programme, before reassessment of function and skin temperature.
