Biography Rameez is currently working as a Lecturer and Programme Director for the Hull online MSc in Artificial Intelligence. He is a highly accomplished professional with specialised knowledge and expertise in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Edge Computing, Cyber Security and the Internet of Things (IoT). With a deep understanding of these cutting-edge technologies, Rameez demonstrates a remarkable ability to tackle pressing environmental and societal challenges. Holding a PhD from the University of Bradford, UK (2019 – 2023), his doctoral research titled ‘Advancing Indoor Air Pollution Research: A Novel Integration of AI, IoT, and Behavioural Science for Enhanced IAQ Monitoring and Behaviour Change’ marks a significant contribution to the field. This work exemplifies his pioneering approach to leveraging cutting-edge technologies for societal benefit, focusing on improving indoor air quality (IAQ) and fostering positive behavioural changes towards environmental sustainability. With an MSc in Cyber Security (2017-2018) from the University of Bradford, Rameez distinguished himself by excelling in a field critical to the security and integrity of today’s digital infrastructure. His academic journey also includes comprehensive training in computer applications, with both a Master's (MCA, 2014-2016) and a Bachelor's (BCA, 2011-2014) degree with Distinction from prestigious institutes in India. These qualifications laid the foundation for his expertise in software development, data analysis, and system security, enabling him to tackle complex challenges at the intersection of technology and human behaviour.
With specialising in AI and smart city technologies, before joining the esteemed University of Hull, his work spans several European Commission-funded projects, notably “Smart Cities and Open Data REuse (SCORE – £2.8M)” and “LifeCritical.” In SCORE, Rameez collaborated with nine cities and three universities to advance AI-driven healthcare solutions. “LifeCritical” further highlighted his expertise in enhancing urban environments through smart technologies and open data. His efforts include pioneering Machine Learning calibrations for IoT devices and edge computing, developing AI-powered urban observatories, and conducting impactful research on indoor & outdoor air quality and asthma linkage. Moreover, his contribution to the “Horizon Scanning project for Urban Planning with Net Zero Targets” with Digital Catapult (£15k funding) involved developing a data-driven prototype to aid UK local authorities in integrating Net Zero targets into urban planning. This work, grounded in deep dives into data analytics and AI methodologies, created a tool that enables more sustainable urban development practices, showcasing his ability to apply academic research to pressing societal challenges and his dedication to promoting sustainable and healthy urban environments.

At the University of Hull, he continues to inspire with his visionary approach, merging academic rigour with real-world applications to drive sustainable change. Looking ahead, Rameez is dedicated to further innovating within AI, IoT, and smart technologies, aiming to shape the future of urban living and public health. His goal is to create interconnected, resilient communities where technology serves as a cornerstone for environmental stewardship and societal well-being, making him a pivotal figure in the quest for a more innovative, sustainable world.

Teaching and Learning I have accumulated a wealth of international teaching experience exceeding four years, during which I have had the privilege of instructing a wide array of subjects within the fields of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. This extensive exposure to different educational environments and cultural contexts has enhanced my ability to engage with and educate students from diverse backgrounds effectively. Through my teaching endeavours, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies inherent to these disciplines, enabling me to deliver high-quality instruction that fosters students' intellectual growth and proficiency in the subject matter.
