Dignity and Respect Adviser (DARA), EDI Champion and Member of the EDI Subcommittee

Description As a Dignity and Respect Advisor (DARA) I strive to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space to listen to concerns; offer help and support to overcome a multitude of EDI matters; and signpost to internal and external support resources.

As an EDI Champion at the faculty level, I help identifying the faculty/directorate EDI priorities and develop appropriate actions to address these; raise awareness of EDI issues and activities, share best practice and celebrate diversity within the faculty/directorate; ensure the faculty/directorate complies with University requirements for EDI training; and - offer functional EDI advice as required including overseeing the EIA process within the faculty/directorate.

As a Member of the Faculty EDI Subcommittee, I participate in the regular meetings and contribute towards its agenda, activities and goals.

Description Instructed by various London, Birmingham and Cardiff based Solicitor firms, Dr Chowdhury has written more than fifty Independent Expert Reports highlighting the constitutional, legal, judicial, political and social system of Bangladesh for the First Tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) of the His Majesty's Courts and Tribunal.

Dr Chowdhury's report has been consistently praised by the judges for their objectivity and high quality information and research support they brought to the Tribunals' judicial decision making process.
