Biography A retired ACC from Humberside Police who was responsible for policing across the 4 LA's, including Response, CID, Neighbourhoods, Custody, Call Handling, Community Safety and Crime Management. Lead officer for ED & I, Hate Crime, Police Uplift and VAWG. During policing was a specialist in Public Order, Firearms and Major Events and Sports, having worked in the Public Order Field for over 20 years and held every role up to and including Gold Public Order Commander, as well as been a Strategic Firearms Commander (SFC) and trained to manage major incidents (MAGIC). Darren held many roles whilst progressing through the ranks, including Divisional Commander, Force Control Room, Human Resources, Roads Policing, Specialist Ops, Custody, Neighbourhood Policing, Corporate Development and Diversity unit, and led on numerous change management projects. He was strategic lead for major partnerships across Humberside, including The Community Safety Partnerships (CSP's), Safeguarding Adults, Safeguarding Children and Place Boards, having extensive experience and connections in local partnerships.



Darren has developed numerous leadership programmes, studying a range of models across policing and the impacts on individuals, organisations and communities and has studied and created training products around leadership principles such as "Feel the Fear" and developing authentic leadership. Darren has also created a well-being and communication model for police officers to better manage the complexity and demands of the role and how to have difficult conversations and is working with a number of forces on this. Darren is now lecturing on the professional policing degree at Hull University and also director of a leadership consultancy, specialising in review activity, training and coaching and mentoring at an executive level and for promotion and selection processes.
