Biography Judith has a BSc in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Leicester, and a PhD in the biochemistry of wound healing from the University of Sheffield. She completed early post-doctoral work at the University of Manchester, before moving into clinical trials at the Wolfson Molecular Imaging Centre. She joined Sheffield Clinical Trials Research Unit (CTRU) in 2007, and developed expertise in clinical trials methodology, including the design and implementation of large scale randomised controlled trials (RCTs).

She was appointed as Director of the Hull Health Trials Unit (HHTU) in November 2017, and as a Clinical Trials methodologist within the University of Hull Institute of Clinical and Applied Health Research (ICAHR) Methods Hub. She led on establishing the HHTU and attaining UKCRC CTU provisional registration (registration number 68). HHTU is an academic-led clinical trials unit which houses a multidisciplinary team with expertise in clinical trial design, conduct and analysis. HHTU works in collaboration with NHS clinicians, academics and industry partners to centrally coordinate multi-centre clinical trials and other well-designed studies including CTIMPs.
