3D Analysis of Maxillofacial Growth

People Involved

Project Description

The goal of this study is to develop, test and validate three-dimensional analysis methodologies to quantify maxillofacial growth. The methodologies are expected to provide guidance and support to determine the nature and extent of hard-tissue mandibular growth and the related soft-tissue. The pilot work will provide three-dimensional geometric morphometric algorithms, computational methods, and corresponding benchmark software tools for a following larger study. The study aims to potentially reduce the age that mandibular advancement surgery is carried out to expedite correction dentofacial deformity and minimise the associated psychosocial problems.
