Project Description

The Holderness Coast is one of world’s fastest receding coastlines with an annual average erosion rate of two metres per year. Coastal retreat has been recorded since Roman times; a strip ~4 miles wide and over 30 settlements estimated to have been lost to the North Sea in the last 2000 years, with the stories and heritage passed
on through history. The rates of retreat are accelerating due to climate change and sealevel rise, placing vulnerable
communities on the edge.

Last years funding has allowed us to establish a suite of CoastSnap locations along a new coastal walking trail along the East Yorkshire Coast and fund the UK license for the CoastSnap App – built in collaboration with University of New South Wales (https://www.coastsnap.com) and with a range of local partners leveraging over £40k in matched investment.
