Project Description

The aim of the project is to provide a unique opportunity for two University of Hull graduates to embed themselves within the hart of AIC operations, to grow their competence and employability through the application of their degree acquired knowledge to real world live projects, and to supporting effective knowledge exchange in a truly multi-stakeholder space.

The project will focus on the application of industrial engineering across two thematic areas within the AIC InventX Innovation workshop, Advanced Manufacturing and Advanced Electronics. Within each of these two themes there will be a variety of live commercial, research and innovation projects from which to gain first-hand experience of engineering in action.

The successful interns will be mentored by the InventX manager to initially build aptitude in each industrial process, and then to proactively apply positive critique, evaluating and implementing opportunities to improve processes and products. In doing so a positive change culture will be fostered, with the goal of increasing efficiency and productivity, whilst also reducing waste and downtime, thereby increasing sustainability of operations and employability of the interns.

The focus on sustainability will go beyond the physical processes and products, with an additional target to increase high impact knowledge exchange, both internally within departments and faculties, and externally within our regions SME’s and industry. Throughout their will be a continuous effort to build upon relationships, ensuring that improvements in process and product improvements resulting from this project can be made accessible to broad a demographic of end users, clients and stakeholders.
