Creative Advocacy in Child and Adolescent Mental Health
People Involved
Project Description
The Creativity as Advocacy in Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CACAMH) project is a Medical Humanities research project exploring the potential of creative activities as tools for child advocacy within the mental health system. The project responds to the need for a) clearer understanding of children’s experiences of their own mental wellbeing and b) increased opportunities for children to communicate these experiences to the adults involved in their care. The CACAMH project proposes that shared creative and storytelling activities (particularly puppetry) offer children an additional language to communicate their experiences of mental distress, daily wellbeing, and mental health interventions and services.
