National Edge AI Hub for Real Data: Edge Intelligence for Cyber-disturbances and Data Quality

People Involved

Project Description

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has grown more pervasive with the advent of Edge Computing (EC) and the proliferation of
gateways and base stations at the network edge and the sensors and actuators needed to run algorithms close to
where data is generated. We call this confluence of AI and EC Edge Intelligence. The edgeAI Hub will focus on using
edge intelligence to improve data quality and decision accuracy in two applications: Healthcare and Autonomous Electric
Vehicle (AeV). Led by Newcastle, the Hub brings together a multidisciplinary team from universities in Wales
(Swansea, Cardiff), England (Durham, Southampton, Lancaster, Newcastle, Hull), Scotland (St. Andrews, UWS) and Northern
Ireland (Queen’s University Belfast). Activities of the edgeAI Hub cover four strands: Cyber-Disturbance Modelling
for Edge Computing, Edge Computing for AI, AI-driven Edge Cyber-Resilience, and User-inspired Applications.
