Project Description

This project is part of a self-funded research MSc. The project will involve surveying suitable habitats for Bog Bush-cricket populations, a very localised species in Yorkshire inhabiting wet heaths and bogs, key habitats that are also important for carbon capture. Twelve sites will be initially surveyed and mapped during June/July, when only nymphs are present. Acoustic transects will be carried out across sites using hand-held acoustic monitoring devices. The results will help conservation of this flagship species for wet heathlands.
