Project Description
The project between Mariupol State University (MSU) and the University of Hull (UoH) aims to address the challenges faced by the displaced MSU community due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. With MSU adopting the role of an ambassador for Mariupol's displaced communities, the collaboration focuses on enhancing MSU's ability to function as a civic university while scattered globally. This involves collaborative research in wartime and postwar recovery, trauma, and the experiences of displaced communities, including veterans and those currently in the UK.
The study visit will allow MSU academics to cooperate with UoH counterparts to explore methodological approaches and develop a sensitive framework for studying trauma among Mariupol’s displaced communities. Leveraging UoH's expertise, particularly its participatory and needs-led research methodologies, the project aims to build long-term relationships and sustainable partnerships, fostering joint ownership of research and civic responsibilities. This partnership will advance MSU's role as a civic university in exile and inform further research bids examining trauma and recovery in war-affected communities.
