The United Nations (U.N.) Sustainable Goal 3, for healthy lives and promoting well-being, notes that 45% of all countries have less than one physician per 1000 people, that figure rising to 90% for less developed countries (United Nations, 2018). Given the rising cost and complexity of supporting people in improving their health and well-being, technology has the potential to support this by acting as a direct way to assist people in understanding and managing their health. This is especially the case with the ready access to information and support through mobile computing and the internet. However, for such potential to be realised, health technologies and software applications need to be suitable for the users, providing sufficient and appropriate - even potentially tailored - support to enable them to understand the information, and to make informed decisions.
