Abstract

This chapter investigates levels of sustainability awareness and early childhood professionals confidence to engage with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in practice. It explores how understanding and knowledge of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in early childhood practice has been left wanting, therefore confidence to embrace and embed it requires attention. Further, in this chapter the authors explore the historical and contemporary impact of sustainability in early childhood whilst also discussing the ways forward, including an emphasis on the need to develop Sustainable Pedagogy
