PhD Topics Research interests
My research interests lie in the interdisciplinary study of equality, diversity and the continuum of hatred (spanning bullying, extremism and radicalisation, hate incidents and crimes, terrorism and genocide).

My doctoral research ‘Girls will be boys: Problematising the links between Masculinity and Violence’, focused on risk factors associated with individual propensity towards violence within the narrative accounts of male and female offenders with established histories of violence.

I am an experienced researcher in the qualitative field with particular experience and understanding pertaining to use of in-depth narrative interviews, focus groups and survey methods, conducting national policing research into the impact of austerity upon the female police workforce. I have also conducted evaluative work on behalf of local community safety partnerships and OPCC into hate crime third party reporting and safe place initiatives. Recent evaluative work has examined policing responses to serious and organised crime.

Postgraduate supervision
I am very interested in supervising doctoral students in the areas of: policing / CJS, vulnerability and resilience, gender, crime and security, and specific areas of transnational / cross-border crime.
