Dr Giles Davidson

Biography With over 25 years’ experience of working at the interface between Universities, Industry, government and other organisations, Giles has led multiple major collaborative initiatives including The Deep, Hull’s £50m Millennium Project and was central to the establishment of the Hull York Medical School, serving as Founding Secretary for over a decade. Following a period as Principal of the University of Hull’s Scarborough campus, Giles led the development of “Aura” a £multi-million collaboration in learning, research and innovation in the offshore wind and low carbon sectors, which brings together industry, universities, government and other expert organisations.

He is currently Head of Strategic Projects at the University of Hull’s renowned Energy and Environment Institute, working on a number of flood resilience research initiatives with Local Authorities, emergency services and large commercial organisations. He leads work to establish a globally unique centre of excellence for innovation in flood research, resilience, response and preparedness.

Giles has a doctorate from the University of Aberdeen and postgraduate qualifications in Leadership and Management from the University of Warwick.
