Biography I joined the University of Hull in October 2011, having previously worked at St Anne's College, Oxford and the universities of Warwick, Southampton, Kent, Durham, and University College Cork.

I have published a multi-stage account of photography which has been internationally recognised as a new direction in the Philosophy of Photography. I am currently working on new articles and a book and I teach a module on the philosophy of photography: 'Detection, Depiction, Deception'.

I collaborate with interdisciplinary and international research networks on projects dedicated to photography, art, perception, image-theory, and cultural conservation, including:

Photographs: Perception and Changes. An interdisciplinary network on photography and its reception
Art and the Limits of Perception (Part of the SPIN network). A network bringing together aestheticians and philosophers of perception
White Rose Aesthetics Forum. A collaboration of Philosophers working in Aesthetics at Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and York
