Andrew's research explores the interactions between the offshore renewable energy industry and the marine environment. He is currently leader on the Environmental Impact Assessment and MSc Research Dissertation modules.
Research Interests Andrew's research explores the interactions between the offshore renewable energy industry and the marine environment. Andrew is a marine ecologist pursuing a multi-faceted research approach to uncover mechanisms that underpin marine population responses to environmental changes created as the transition to decarbonise energy generation accelerates. This includes close partnership with the European Marine Energy Centre exploring the impacts of marine growth in the offshore renewable energy industry.

Research interests include, but are not limited to: rocky shores and wave energy; biofouling of artificial substratum; blue carbon habitats; fisheries and offshore energy platforms; phylogenetics and population connectivity; and, management of invasive species.
Teaching and Learning Andrew Want's current teaching roles at the Energy and Environment Institute at the University of Hull include:
-Environmental Impact Assessment (Module Leader)
-MSc Research Dissertation (Module Leader)
-Renewable Energy Technologies (Lecturer)
-Personal Tutor and Dissertation Supervisor to MSc students
-Supervisor to PhD students at the University of Hull, as well as Durham University, Heriot Watt University (Scotland), the University of Brest (France), and the University of the Highlands and Islands (Scotland)
