Coccus Pocus 2019: A microbiology-related scary story competition
Sep 16, 2019

Description In an ambitious attempt to inform young people about the importance of antibiotic resistance and microbial biofilms, we will organise a scary sci-fi short story competition for this Halloween (31/10/2019), named Coccus Pocus 2019. The participants (Group A: ages 12-18; Group B: ages 19-25) will be encouraged to write an engaging scary story, incorporating valid scientific information about AMR and biofilms. This will motivate them to read about these topics, understand the basic principles and use this information in their post-apocalyptic horror scenarios, in an educational and enjoyable way!

Competition plan:
-Notify the students on the 16th of September 2019 (one month to write the story)
-Submission deadline: 16th of October (two weeks to evaluate the submitted stories)
-Prize awarding event (1 hour): 31st of October
