Project Description

The objective of this project is to recruit a research assistant to undertake a study involving water
sampling and analysis to obtain water quality data on emerging contaminants in ground and drinking
water samples, using locations in Chandigarh as study sites. RA will be accommodated at Panjab
University and supervised by Professor Mehta, before returning to Hull to analyse data and present at a
workshop in India in 2019. The workshop will be attended by investigators from Hull, India and
representatives from Indian NGOs including Water Aid and Ecological Concepts. Data obtained from
study will be made available to stake holders including the National Rural Drinking Water Programme
to support ongoing clean water campaign, thus creating immediate impact. Data will also be used in a
future GCRF application and the workshop presents an opportunity to initiate Indian NGO networks to
contribute in impact and implementation areas.
