This project aims to strengthen the professional profile of both teacher educators and teachers in schools by enhancing their capacity to use digital technologies (mobile devices) in ways that are innovative and promote new teaching methods and pedagogies across both sectors. It also seeks to develop resources and tools (e.g. a mobile app) that will enable teacher educators, trainee teachers and practising teachers to work more effectively together as part of a continuum in order to research and evaluate these innovations. Therefore this proposal is firmly rooted in both the ‘open and innovative practices, in a digital era’ EU horizontal priority ( innovative methods and pedagogies, learning materials and tools, and the effective use of Information, Communication and Technologies in education, including actions that support the synergy between research and innovation activities, promoting new technologies as drivers of improvement) and the field specific EU priority that aims to strengthen the profile of the teaching professions through actions that enhance teachers’ professional development by linking its different phases from Initial Teacher Education (ITE), induction through to continuing professional develop (CPD).
